Bible Societies represented at the African Biblical Leadership Initiative (ABLI) conference in Kigali, Rwanda, laid wreaths at the Kigali Genocide Memorial on Tuesday before the opening of the conference.

Representaties of Bible Society England and Wales, Bible Society of Rwanda and the American Bible Society laid wreaths at the site of the burial of 250,000 victims of the 1994 massacres.

Delegates to the conference stood for a minute's silence after the wreath-laying, which followed a tour of the memorial complex.

The theme of this year's ABLI conference is 'From Trauma to Triumph', reflecting the recent experience of the host nation.
